The not so fun Kitchen day

Ahh, where to begin.  I guess for starters I will tell you my dishwasher died about 3 weeks ago.  Part of the time I really don’t mind doing dishes by hand. But the other part, like today when I’m baking and cooking up a storm and making a mess, I really miss the dishwasher!

I started off the morning by deciding to try a “savory scone” recipe.  Due to multiple possible culprits, it did not turn out “optimal”. That is a nice way of saying it didn’t turn out at all like it was supposed to.  I suspect some of you may think “oh, anything she makes turns out awesome”.  That is certainly not the case and especially today!  I really wish I’d taken pictures of the finished product.  It was for sure, not “optimal”.  The flavor was there, but not the picture perfect scone that said ” wow, this looks amazing!”  My baking powder may not have been as active as it should have been, my oven temp may have been off, or the flour measurement could have been wrong.  I may attempt once more just to see if I can figure it out.  For those of us who love to cook, this is not a deterrent.  It’s just a day in the life 🙂

Then I went on to try baking mini bundt cakes that were to be transformed into cute little pumpkins. I forgot to spray the pan!!! Yep, they all stuck!  No amount of careful prying made them come out of the pan.  What a mess!! I did a second batch and they were ok, but again, not optimal.  They were supposed to be orange but they came out brown. Not a cute color for something that was going to be a “pumpkin” 🙁  The picture I was inspired by was SO CUTE! This was my second attempt at getting these to turn out.  I am moving on!  There are many other things to make and bake!

The day ended with cooking dinner and then doing ALL those baking, cooking, and dinner dishes.  This is not how I envisioned my only day home.  Luckily, not every day is this way.

Now having said all that, (if you are still reading) I am posting a couple new recipes soon that are really delicious!   Get the recipes here Here’s to happy baking days ahead and yummy things to devour. ♥
