Spring flowers are coming!

My goodness, Spring really is just around the corner and I cannot tell you how much I’m looking forward to it!  This year more than ever!  It been a long winter, a long year, and a long time waiting for something to brighten our days. 🙂

Spring brings beautiful tulips, daffodils, narcissus, crocus, bluebells, primroses, etc.   It always makes me happy and hopeful to see these gorgeous beauties.  And of course that gets me to thinking about all the summer goodies that will be planted and blooming before we know it!

I’m planning on increasing the garden this year. I’ve ordered seeds galore and spent money on all kinds of gardening “things”.  Everything from seed trays to heat mats to soil testing in addition to reading articles and watching you-tube videos on how to do this successfully. Eeeek!!  We’ll see.  It will be very much a trial and error year.  But, I’m still looking forward to it!  Hoping my expectations don’t exceed my ability.  Dream big they say, right??

Last summer, just on a whim, I decided I had so  many flowers that I couldn’t possibly keep them all.  So I wanted to share what I had.  I set up a little roadside flower stand, placed flowers in pretty bottles and waited to see what happened.

What a wonderful experience that turned out to be!!!  People LOVED the flowers and I loved that they stopped and wanted some.  It made me happy to see them smile as they chose their favorites, ooohing and ahhing over the various sizes, shapes, and colors.   And as a bonus I got to chat with people from all over, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  Some were just traveling through the area and wanted a flower for their car, or to put on their picnic table at their campsite!  Some just wanted to walk through the garden and admire the uncut ones, or pick out a specific one they wanted. It was fun, exciting, heartwarming, and a joyful experience all around.  Very few flowers actually went to waste and that also made me happy.

This summer I intend to do the same thing but on a larger scale.  Last year was mostly dahlias, but this coming summer I hope to  have sweet peas , cosmos, snapdragons, nasturtiums, and zinnias.  I’m even thinking I will do a little raised bed on the deck and grow a few veggies!   That is if all goes well.  And that will be dependent on a lot of things, including weather. And in the Pacific Northwest we never really know for sure what we’ll get!   So, we shall see.  Fingers crossed!  In the meantime, I will continue planning and dreaming of what is to come.

Until next time….

I can’t wait to see all your blooms. Not only are you growing along with them you too are blooming and budding into a beautiful flower yourself. Be sure to name a flower after yourself! 🌸🌷🌹🥀🌼💐

Aww, Thank you Beth! I’m so hoping you are able to come for a visit this summer. We shall sit on the deck, sip something cool and wonderful and hopefully admire flowers! Hoping Covid will be under control enough to do that!
